New ownership structure – same values

Translation House of Scandinavia has a new ownership structure following the decision of the company’s principal shareholder and founder, Kim Nepper Jensen, to sell his shares to the seven other partners.

By Jesper O. Andersen

The transfer marks a generational change but also a continuation of the values and quality principles upon which Translation House of Scandinavia is founded. Continuity within the company is also maintained, as the seven owners have been with the company for many years.

According to Managing Director Lene Lauridsen, the circle of owners will continue to work closely with the company’s employees to uphold the existing values with continued focus on delivering solutions of the highest quality.

“In addition to servicing our existing customers, exploration of new market areas will be a priority to establish an even broader customer platform, and we already have a number of specific initiatives ready,” explains Lene Lauridsen.

“There is no doubt that the seven partners possess many different competencies that supplement each other very well and create a dynamic atmosphere,” says Lene Lauridsen, adding that an expansion of the Board of Directors is in the works to further generate input with regard to the day-to-day operation as well as short and long-term strategic planning.

Terminology partnership with DONG Energy

With the liberalisation of the energy sector in the EU countries, DONG Energy has increased its international activities significantly and is today an international energy company with focus on the Northern European energy markets.

By Britta Aagaard

This has put globalisation on the agenda, requiring among other things, a well-designed language profile that complies with DONG Energy’s values and requirements for professional communication. In summer 2009, DONG Energy began looking for a partner who could deliver this service in collaboration with DONG Energy’s own language specialists. A comprehensive project management system must be translated into English in order to ensure uniform processes and consistent terminology across the board, from technical guidelines and legal regulations to user manuals and other supporting documents.

In line with DONG Energy’s demand for high quality, the project was put out to tender, and Translation House of Scandinavia was chosen as the supplier thanks, in particular, to the company’s competencies within quality control and terminology management.

This collaboration is yet another example of a strong partnership in which DONG Energy’s language specialists work closely with the translators and native speakers at Translation House of Scandinavia. Uniform quality in all texts is achieved with a solid terminology solution – regardless of whether the translation is carried out by DONG Energy or by Translation House of Scandinavia.

New Managing Director

Lene Lauridsen

Lene Lauridsen was appointed new Managing Director of Translation House of Scandinavia on 15 September 2008.

Lene Lauridsen, 44, has worked as a state-authorised translator (German) in Translation House of Scandinavia for the past ten years. She was soon appointed head of the German translation department, and seven years ago she was offered a partnership in the company. During the past couple of years, Lene has acted as Deputy Managing Director as well as being involved in HR and process optimisation and development.

New business areas
“It is a great challenge and very exciting to be the head of Translation House of Scandinavia – not least because of all the new business areas we are currently focusing on. Many of our customers are, for example, showing a keen interest in the implementation of company-specific termbases, and we have the technology required to offer flexible, customised and reasonably priced solutions,” says Translation House of Scandinavia’s new Managing Director.

Translation House of Scandinavia has in recent years seen satisfactory and stable growth in revenue, thanks, among other things, to a number of large EU contracts.

The former managing director and the company’s principal shareholder, Kim Nepper Jensen, will remain a member of the Board of Directors.
