Saxo Bank chooses Translation House of Scandinavia

The successful online investment bank Saxo Bank has signed a framework agreement with Translation House of Scandinavia on copywriting press releases, news items and brochure texts, assignments which often require a more creative approach than simple translation.

The agreement means that Saxo Bank can have copywriting solutions supplied at short notice in a palette of languages: Danish, English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Slovenian, Czech and Greek.

Taking our own medicine

In connection with the launch of our new website, Translation House of Scandinavia has used the new translation application in the SynkronVia CMS system to save both time and money when translating the site.

“When translating our website, www.oversaetterhuset.dk, into Swedish, English and German, we used the functionality which we developed in collaboration with Synkron A/S (now DynamicWeb) in 2005,” says Torben Dahl Jensen, Language Technology Manager in Translation House of Scandinavia. “With the Via Translation Manager application, you can reduce the time normally spent cutting web content from a Danish version and pasting it into other language versions by up to 95 per cent,” Torben continues.

“Using the application ourselves was a very useful exercise, and we can now pass on our experiences to those of our customers who want to have their SynkronVia website translated,” says Birgitte Forné, Sales & Marketing Manager.

EU contract for Translation House of Scandinavia

At the end of 2007, Translation House of Scandinavia won a four-year EU contract for the translation of trade mark classifications and descriptions from English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Portuguese and Finnish into Danish.

A weekly translation volume of 50,000 words is produced by a team of highly experienced trade mark translators in collaboration with other experienced internal and external translators.

The 15-person strong team is, of course, managed internally by two dedicated in-house project managers.

The night is dark as gold

Carlsberg Gold is normally associated with parties and fun. In the past week, however, it was the nightly aspect of the slogan which was at the front of our minds.

For several years, Translation House of Scandinavia has enjoyed an exemplary collaboration with the Danish law firm Kromann Reumert on handling urgent English-Danish legal translations; when we received an enquiry to assist in connection with Carlsberg and Heineken’s acquisition of Scottish & Newcastle, we immediately sprang into action. On the face of it, the assignment looked like a normal rush job – however, we ended up working well into the very early hours. As usual, we put together a team of experienced legal translators, and kept in regular contact with the legal team at Kromann Reumert. The 40-page translation was delivered on time on Wednesday, but it soon became apparent that, because of the ongoing negotiations, the original document would have to be revised before it was ready for publishing.


So, while the parties negotiated for all they were worth, we translated and updated the latest versions in real time throughout Thursday-Friday night, which involved no fewer than three revised versions of the document. In order to meet the final deadline – 7.45 Friday morning – beauty sleep was put on hold by our dedicated team. Of course, the fact that the takeover, the biggest in Denmark to date, was successful for Carlsberg makes the assignment even more interesting to think back on.
